The American Museum in Britain is located in an area of outstanding natural beauty. The hilltop site of the museum’s home, Claverton Manor near Bath takes full advantage of the spectacular views over the valley of the River Avon. The grounds total some 120 acres, of which forty are open to visitors.
The museum was founded in 1961 by Dallas Pratt and John Judkyn and given to the people of Britain as a sign of friendship between our two nations. Both Pratt and Judkyn wanted to show that there was more to America than just Hollywood and cowboys.
