Alford Manor House

Reputedly the largest thatched manor house in the country, Alford Manor House was built to a traditional H plan in 1611. It is a very rare example of a composite structure, featuring a wooden frame with reed and plaster (visible from within the house), encased in brick. Ground floor and first floor rooms feature design interventions from Georgian through to Victorian times, whilst the attic floor is virtually untouched since 1611.

Belton House

Whilst exploring Lincolnshire in a motorhome take a peaceful trip to Belton House; a magnificent 17th century country house. Within Belton House stunning antique collections can be witnessed, with exquisite displays of silverware and furniture. Outside there are plenty more attractions to explore such as the Orangery, the Italian and Dutch Gardens and the expertly landscaped deer park. Also on site is the National Trust’s largest adventure playground, an ideal way to keep children entertained.

Belton House has even been used as the filming location for many high profile BBC television programs including Jane Eyre, Tom Jones and Pride and Prejudice.

Burghley House

Lincolnshire is one of the most pleasant counties to drive around in a motorhome. For a great day out whilst in the area, a trip to Burghley House is ideal. Burghley is one of the largest and grandest Elizabethan Houses known to exist, dating back 1555. Many collections and exhibitions are on display at Burghley including the world famous Chinese Snuff Bottle display. Outside there are more than 2000 acres of stunning parkland and gardens including a deer park, sculpture garden and garden of surprises.

Burghley has also been used as a filming location for several Hollywood blockbuster films including Pride and Prejudice (2005), The Da Vinci Code (2006), and Elizabeth: The Golden Age (2007).

Park your motorhome or campervan at the reserves south carpark, in the knowledge that income from car parking helps to manage the reserve. Then walk to the visitor centre and explore the Wild Coast Exhibition and Nature Discovery Room.Visit The Point Cafe and Look-out and gift shop.
This is the reserve to see seashores, sand-dunes, saltmarshes and freshwater habitats extending for a distance of about 3 miles along the Lincolnshire coast, from the southern end of Skegness to the entrance of the Wash.There is an observation platform at Mill Hill with extensive views of the surrounding landscape, and public hides overlook the Mere and Fenland Lagoon. Dating back to the 13th century, when building began, this is worth visiting when you are in the area with your motor home or campervan. Inside are the collection of paintings, furniture, tapestries and objects d’art that fill the state rooms. Thrones and furnishings from the House of Lords are also on display. Natureland Seal Sanctury

Swinderby Antiques Fair is situated at RAF Swinderby in Lincolnshire next to the main A46 Newark to Lincoln road. Clearly visible from the road, this massive fair is worth a visit. Check out their website for more information.

Woolsthorpe Manor

Whilst travelling around Lincolnshire in a motorhome why not visit Woolsthorpe Manor, a 17th century manor house and birthplace of Sir Issac Newton.

Woolsthorpe Manor contains an exhibit dedicated to Newton and his childhood in the area. There is also a Interactive Science Discovery Centre for those looking to follow in his footsteps. There are free parking facilities, a small shop and refreshment centre on site to make sure that all visitors are well looked after during their stay.

You can even see the apple tree which allegedly inspired Newton to develop his theories on gravity!!
